When my husband announced he was retiring, many of his co-workers asked him where he was going to work. The expectation was that he would find another job elsewhere... When he said he wouldn't get another job, people were shocked and asked "but what will you do??" His answer "anything I want." .

SGPC again expands itself
The SGPC today promoted five employees as assistant secretaries and two as additional secretaries, making the mini parliament of the Sikhs top-heavy. Avtar Singh today issued the promotion orders, which were his first order after becoming SGPC president for the third consecutive year. Interestingly, the SGPC had four full-fledged secretaries against one post during the tenure of Gurcharn Singh Tohra, who reigned the SGPC for 27 years. With the new promotions, the number of assistant secretaries and additional secretaries has risen to 15 and eight, respectively. Though the SGPC chief has claimed that the promotions will not put any additional burden on the exchequer of the SGPC, insiders say the newly promoted employees will be entitled to use the additional facilities like telephone, official vehicle etc.
Activities create sense of community
Sidewalks and boardwalks wind through Belle Lago, an invitation to enjoy leisurely activities outdoors as well as front-lawn visits with friends, and the Rauches walk or bike daily. “There is a real sense of community here," Helmut said. It is not by chance that new residents soon feel at home at Belle Lago. “The activity schedule is planned to provide opportunities for the residents to take full advantage of the community amenities — the clubhouse, the tennis courts and swimming pool — and to socialize with their neighbors," said Gene Gartlan, senior project manager for Toll Brothers. “We have a full-time on-site manager to assist with planning and to coordinate the activities. In Florida, people have often moved from somewhere else, and they may have left family and old friends behind.
Ellis, Croshere Fuel Big Third Period as Warriors Win
Stephen Jackson returned from a two-game absence with a sprained ankle to score 17 points for the Warriors, who got back in form after an embarrassing home loss to Atlanta last Friday. Golden State never trailed in the fourth quarter - a rarity in the Warriors' high-risk, high-reward game. Golden State took charge late in the third with an 11-0 run, including four points apiece from Croshere and Ellis, who went 14-for-22 and added six rebounds. "If we'd just play our third quarters at the beginning of the game, it wouldn't be so tough for us,'' said Ellis, who has 13 straight 20-point games at home. Kevin Durant scored 21 points and fellow rookie Jeff Green had a career high 21 for the Sonics, who have lost four of six. Luke Ridnour matched his career high with 15 assists, including 12 in the first half, but injury-depleted Seattle couldn't stay with the Warriors' uptempo offense in the second half.
Anger at Pembrokeshire's "poor" train service
A 22-year-old Kilgetty man has demanded an apology from Arriva Trains Wales for poor train services which have frequently left him unable to get to work. Ben Large depends on public transport to get to Pembroke School where he works as a cover supervisor. Since October he has missed a morning's work on five separate occasions due to the train not turning up. Ben has never needed to own a car and has only found the train system to be problematic after returning to Pembrokeshire. He said: "I have personally incurred a loss of earnings because of failures in the system where the promised alternative transport is either ridiculously late or non-existent. "What's laughable about it is that they've now raised their fares." He added: "It's disgusting coming from a public service, especially when the Government is trying to persuade everyone to go green'.
Online Poll
I would be very interested in hearing some of the problems that are causing our state police to have to work under conditions most people would find difficult if not impossible. There are so many rules and so many people you have to be responsible to, it just doesn't seem fair...and when they ask for a little understanding, it seems that everyone thinks being a police officer means you somehow become less than human. I am finding in my research that there is far more occupational stress than stress that is felt through critical incidents. Is that true, and what would it take to make the job easier, not only for the officers, but also for the administration, I am sincerely interested in learning more.
